Atlas Gas Field Well Surface Facilities Construction

Atlas Gas Field

Senex Energy

Project Responsibilities

Continuing as principal contractor from the previous 2 phases (Roma North Field – phases 2 & 3); this project required the installation of an additional 53 wells at various sites within the Atlas Gas Field. Responsibilities included:

  • Supply and delivery equipment connection packages to site
  • Workshop fabrication of all off-skid piping
  • Site run piping (mechanical) and control equipment (I&E)
  • Completion Dosier (MDR)
Positioning Equipment

Other responsibilities as the surface facility construction contractor were around ‘program management’, flexibility of workforce, and, working closely with our client and its other contractors to ensure minimal delay between drilling and production/commissioning were continually controlled.

Workshop fabrication, procurement of long lead items and delivery to a geographically isolated region prior to site installation of all Mechanical & I/E works. This required the timely deployment of resources to maintain critical path as governed by drilling activities to ensure site facilities are operable within a minimal duration from downhole completion.

This also included offsite fabrication, logistics management, site delivery, custody transfer, site management of construction works, safety monitoring, expediting onsite materials for each site, onsite construction personnel (HA specialists), quality control & MDR, commissioning.

This is an outstanding result achieved by the highest quality of people in our industry. Lessons Learnt

Communication is key! We have developed a great working relationship with our customer which allowed for open and frank communications at site and at management levels; this openness has:

  1. afforded considerable project savings that we could pass on to our customer, and
  2. ensured project road blocks are identified early and controlled professionally in partnership.

The level of trust and communication are not that common but they certainly beneficial for the project to deliver such a high level of efficiency and professionalism.

Additional Project Information

Ago Vires took on a wider scope with this project which included the procurement of long lead items almost 6 months in advance of the initial mobilisation date. This is an unusual opportunity that Ago Vires controlled right through the preliminary construction phase and delivered to coincide with its own prefabricated items as ‘single site’ delivery packages, completely in house.
